EF Commander is a complex file manager. It has many features. A wide range of users, from beginners to professionals, will find it easy to use. It is the result of many requests received by the author. The author wrote the first version in 1994. It was for the OS/2 operating system using Presentation Manager. It was a personal replacement for the old DOS program Norton Commander. The developers ported it to the 32-bit Microsoft Windows operating system in 1996.

It supports 7-Zip, ACE, ARC, ARJ, and more. These include BZIP2, CAB, and GZIP. It also supports IMG, ISO, LHA, and RAR. Plus, it supports RPM, SFX, and SQX. It also supports TAR, TAR.7Z, TAR.BZ, and TAR.GZ. It also supports TAR.XZ, UDF, WIM, XZ, Z, ZIP, and Zip64. They also support ZOO.
Internal viewer for many file formats. It can view pictures and movies and play MP3, Ogg/Vorbis, FLAC, WMA, and WAV audio files. You don’t need any other software.
Use XnView and IrfanView as add-ons: Enlarge the number of available formats to 400 or more. EF Commander runs in the background but remains available to you. You can also manage files in the internal viewer, in the quick view mode, or as thumbnails.
This is a fast FTP/SFTP/FTPS/SCP client. It has resume download and FxP (server to server transfers). It also has a secure connection.
Internal text and HEX editor: EF Commander has full text and hex editors. Your system’s resources limit them.
